Optimized for high volumes: New product launches for IAA 2024

At the IAA for commercial vehicles from 17 to 22 September 2024 in Hanover, we will be presenting several new products, all of which are optimized for higher volumes.

 

Motors with hairpin technology

We are supplementing our VM6xxx series motor portfolio with models that have been optimized for high volumes. The VM10 to VM500 classes cover peak torques from 100 to 5,000 Nm.

The design of the windings in so-called hairpin technology also results in a compact design and excellent efficiency. The photo shows a cut-open motor with a peak torque of 400 Nm and a maximum speed of 12,000 rpm. The compact winding heads and the very high copper fill level in the stator are clearly visible.

 

5-in-1 and 6-in-1 inverter systems

The combination of several high-voltage components and their interconnection in a compact device primarily leads to:

  • Reduced space requirement and weight
  • Significantly reduced integration effort in the vehicle
  • Significantly reduced sources of error with regard to the connections
  • Significantly reduced overall costs

The WMC63xx models (left image) cover the following functions as so-called 5-in-1 systems:

  • 1 traction inverter
  • 2 Auxiliary inverter
  • 1 HVLV DCDC to feed the 24V system from the high-voltage battery with a continuous output of 5 kW
  • The associated PDU function with contactors and fuses

The WMC64xx models (right-hand image) have 2 traction inverters or a very powerful one in parallel mode.

 

VP-SI the Safety Inverter

Our VP-SI safety inverter focuses on resolving the classic opposites of “safety” and “flexibility” for your benefit. The aim: to offer you and your customers clear added value.

The VP-SI offers you the following special features:

  • Nominal power according to ECE-R85 (30 minutes) up to 400 kVA
  • Peak currents up to 720 Arms
  • Integrated PLC functionality with 0.5 ms cycle
    • For additional functions of various kinds, e.g. for measurement tasks without sensors for predictive maintenance of the drivetrain
    • E.g. also for encoding and decoding both data and commands
    • And much more. We also offer the development tools and powerful oscilloscope functions are integrated.
